Syyttäjän tehtävänä on huolehtia rikosoikeudellisen vastuun toteuttamisesta hänen käsiteltävänään olevassa asiassa tasapuolisesti, joutuisasti ja taloudellisesti asianosaisten oikeusturvan ja yleisen edun edellyttämällä tavalla.

A prosecutor’s duty is to ensure the implementation of criminal liability in the matter they handle impartially, promptly and economically, as required by the legal protection of the parties and the public interest.

Säännös määrittelee syyttäjän tehtävän ja toimintaperiaatteet: rikosoikeudellisen vastuun toteuttaminen on hoidettava tasapuolisesti, joutuisasti ja taloudellisesti asianosaisten oikeusturvan ja yleisen edun mukaisesti.

This provision expressly requires a prosecutor to handle the matter impartially and promptly while safeguarding the parties’ legal protection and the public interest. It is a general statutory duty; whether conduct in an individual case complied with it must be assessed against the record and applicable law.
